Fundamentals of Marketing
Grade Levels: 9-11 Prerequisite: None
Fundamental of Marketing is a basic course offered in the three-year Marketing program. Students gain a basic understanding of marketing and its importance and develop fundamental social, economic, mathematical, marketing, job search, and occupational decision-making skills necessary for successful initial employment in retail, wholesale, or service businesses. Academic skills (mathematical, science, English, and history/social studies) related to the content are a part of this course. Credit: 1 unit
Grades Levels: 11-12 Prerequisite: Employment
Students are introduced to functions and foundations involved in the marketing of goods, services, and ideas and achieve skills necessary for successful marketing employment. Students study risk-management, selling, promotion, pricing, purchasing marketing—information management, product/service planning distribution, and financing. Foundation skills include economics, human resources, and marketing and business necessary for success in marketing occupations. Academic skills (mathematics, science, English, history/social science)related to the content are a part of this course. The student must be employed and have documented work to receive credit for the course. A student must complete both the work and the class to receive credit. No credit is given for work unless the class is taken. This class is taught in conjunction with Marketing Work. Credit: 1 unit

Marketing Work allows a student to leave school and go to an approved workplace during Block 4. A student must be enrolled in a Marketing Education course to take this course. It is offered in the Fall semester. Credit: 1 unit

Students continue to gain knowledge of marketing functions and foundations as they relate to supervisory and management responsibilities and develop skills needed for advancement. They develop skills for supervisory positions and/or for continuing education in a marketing related field. Academic skills (mathematics, science, English, history/social science) related to the content are a part of this course. Credit: 1 unit
Grade Level: 12 Prerequisite: Advanced Marketing
This course allows Advanced Marketing students to leave school and go to an approved workplace during Block 4. A student must be enrolled in Advanced Marketing to take this course. It is offered in the Fall semester. Credit: 1 unit
