Art I

Grade Level(s):   9-12        Prerequisite:  None

Students will explore various media, completing at least one project for each medium and process used.  Some of the mediums and art forms to be used are:  clay in pottery and sculpture; pencils, pastels, and charcoal in drawing; watercolor and acrylics in painting and printmaking; yarn in weaving; fabric crayons and paint in textile design.  The basic ideas and theories of color, design, balance, perspective, shading, and texture will be covered in each medium.  Art history will be introduced during the exploration process.  Artists from the cave art period through the 20th Century will be analyzed and studied.

Art II

Grade Level(s):  9-12          Prerequisite:  Art I

Art II is an advanced continuation of Art I.  The basic format is the same as Art I.

Art III

Grade Level(s):  10-12        Prerequisite:  Art II

Art III is an advanced portfolio development.  Students interested in pursuing an art career are candidates for this class.
